Tasters Guild Announces the Medal Winners of its 25th Annual International Wine Judging

Tasters Guild International, a Wine and Food Appreciation Society based in Grand Rapids, Michigan with administrative offices in Washington D.C., has announced the results of its Twenty-Fifth Annual International Wine Judging held at the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education in Grand Rapids.

Thirty experienced judges from around the country completed over 2,200 evaluations of wine from 8 countries and 33 states/provinces on April 25-28, 2012. The judging panels were comprised of a carefully selected mix of retailers, winemakers, wine writers, restaurateurs, wine educators and experienced consumers. As part of the total wine evaluation process, nearly 35% of the wines entered were randomly chosen for reevaluation to verify the accuracy and fairness of medal consideration.

We are proud to announce that last year Eagle City Winery was awarded a Gold Medal for our Cranberry Wine and this year we earned a Gold Medal for our Black Currant wine and a Silver medal for our Raspberry Wine.

In total we have received 54 awards in international wine competitions over the last 12 years.

In addition, this year the Iowa Quality Wine Consortium approved our Cranberry Wine, Black Currant Wine, Raspberry Wine and Apple Wine as Quality Iowa Wines, and they will bear the IQW (Iowa Quality Wine) seal on each bottle.
