Hello Wine Friends,

Hope you're enjoying summer and sipping some of our wines on these warm evenings. We've been busy cleaning up after a couple big storms hit our vineyard, first a lightning strike and then a week later a big wind storm. That's part of the challenge of growing grapes in the heartland.

We'll be at the Iowa State Fair on Saturday, August 13th pouring wine at the Wine Experience tent on the hill near Grandfathers Barn. Come out and try five of our favorite wines and support the Iowa wine industry.

Road Trip: Make sure to stop by the winery soon to try our wines and spend some time sipping wine and relaxing in our gathering room, wandering in our vineyard, and checking out our latest gift shop items. We're open Tuesday-Saturday: 10am to 5pm; Sunday: 1pm to 5pm; and closed Mondays.

Quality Wine Assurance - To increase consumer awareness of Iowa's wine quality the Midwest Grape and Wine Industry Institute has assisted the Iowa Wine Growers Association (IWGA) to establish the Iowa Quality Wine Consortium (IQWC).To be awarded IQWC status, wines submitted will need to pass both laboratory chemical analysis and sensory evaluation to be recommended by the Wine Institute Director and approved by the Iowa Quality Wine Consortium (IQWC) board.

PREVENT WINE HEAT DAMAGE:  How to Prevent Wine Heat Damage? Don't Leave Wine in Your Car. This is one of the most common scenarios: You run to the store to grab a couple of items for a dinner party. You don't buy any frozen goods, so you think nothing of running a couple of errands afterwards. Your car (especially your trunk) can reach well above 100° Fahrenheit on an average summer day. Wine will start to cook above 90° Fahrenheit. Treat your wine like a basket of fresh berries or a quart of ice cream. Precious!

-Put wine in the passenger compartment with you
-Make a wine purchase / pick up the last stop and go directly home
-If you're on a wine tasting, carry your purchases into the next winery or restaurant
-Keep it cool.
