Happy Spring! After such a long, cold winter we were happy to get out into our vineyard and do some pruning this past several weeks. We're hopeful the very low temperatures haven't hurt our vines this year.
We're already planning for our annual Spring/Summer Winery Open House (July 12-13) and hope you can make it this year. Our events are family-friendly and give us all a chance to reconnect (or if you're new to Eagle City Winery, a chance to visit a little and for you to try our wines). The results from the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition are in and our Black Currant and Eagle City White did very well.
We'd love to have you visit us soon and remember we're back to our normal business hours. Open Tuesday-Saturday: 10am to 5pm; Sunday: 1pm to 5pm; and closed Mondays.
Hope to see you soon!
Ken & Carolyn

approved so choose confidently and enjoy Iowa Quality wine! We're proud
to announce our newest wines: Harvest Blend and Strawberry are IQ
approved. That makes a total of 13 Eagle City Wines that are Certified!
VINEYARD UPDATE: Over the past month we were able to get out into our vineyard and give our grape vines a good pruning and soon we ought to see the buds begin to swell and burst into life.

DID YOU KNOW: After World War II, most of Iowa's commercial vineyards were located in southwest Iowa in Harrison, Mills, and Pottawattamie counties. In 1948 Pottawattamie County produced 2 million pounds of grapes on 3,200 acres. As of June of 2012 Iowa had 99 wineries with approximately 300+ vineyards covering 1,200 acres.
