red wine is rich, medium bodied and moderately oaked. It has the
distinct flavor of tea, berries and herbs.
The
most popular red varietal in California. Associated with the Bordeaux
region in France, it is now grown world wide. Often hard and tannic when
young, requiring both barrel and bottle aging to soften, it can produce
wines with great complexity and aging potential. Descriptors include:
black currant, black pepper, berry, eucalyptus, bell pepper, olives and
